Original Release Notes CD2-0 New Mfr Code - CD
03/14/2008
As I am sure you are aware, new price books have been issued, with an effective date of March 17. The new pricing is now ready for download from Comsense. However, the Manufacturer Code has changed from CE to CD. The CE database had become a monster over the years as products were discontinued. There were also items missing from the CE database. Our nomenclature change of a few years ago in many ways simplified our pricing, but the database was never changed to reflect that simplification.
We have tried to make the database easier for us to maintain, and make it easier for you to use as well. Here are some of the major changes you will see:
Lites and Louvers:
The LITES table was extremely large. To make it easier to find what you want, we’ve broken that table down into several new tables:
- KITS-EMB for embossed door lite kits.
- KITS-FL for flush lite kits type 4884
- KITS-LVR for all types of louvers. We’ve decreased the choices here by taking out separate codes for top, bottom and double louvers. Because LT, LB, LD, and LF are selected from the TYPE field, the kit itself does not need to again reference the location of the louver. Also, we’ve added galvanized louvers to the table, which were not previously in Comsense.
- KITS-MA for Madera door lite kits
- KITS-MISC for STC and Thrulite doors
- KITS-ST for SlimTrim steel lite kits
- KITS-STIG for SlimTrim steel lite kits with thick glass. In the previous database, thick glass was handled as a manual price item which prevented the door from pricing properly. You will still need to indicate the glass thickness on your orders. Advantage users will be prompted to enter a glass thickness.
- L/L CUTOUT for lite and louver cutouts.
- L/L SS for stainless steel lites and louvers.
Door Thickness
- With the addition of 2”, 2-1/4”, and 2-1/2” thick doors to the Medallion series, we have made thickness a required field in take-off entry and in the door build screens in inventory and sales orders.
Material:
- In the CE database, we had 7 different codes for A60 in the door MATL table. We now have only four. Due to pricing differences, Lead Lined, Restricdor, and the Textured Steel option still have a different code. All other doors will use the “A60” code.
- Unfortunately, we’ve had to add a few more A60 codes to the frame MATL table. Separate codes are listed for Lead Lined, Restricdor, stick and mullion components, and the elevations on pages LT1 through LT42.
Frame Series:
- Double Egress and Weatherkerfed frames are now found in the Series field rather than in the Profile field.
- Designations for some of our specialty frames have changed to make them consistent with the Order Writing Manual:
Restricdor SQR
Armorshield Level 1,2,3 SQ3
Armorshield Level 4 SQ4
Lead Lined SQ-LL

Frame Construction
- Many of our specialty frames are available only as welded units. In the previous database, those products were built with no entry in the WLD/KD field of take-off entry. Because this created a lot of confusion, all frames will now require an entry in that field. For frames that are only available welded (Restrictdor, Armorshield, Lead-Lined, STC, and MarineTech), the code will simply be WLD.
For DOS users, the new database will require that you convert your stock inventory.
As you browse (<CTL> <F10>) through your Ceco stock inventory, press F6 at each item and select the last item “Assign equivalent product”. (You can also press <ALT> <F2> at each item to bring up the substitution window.) The Door Entry window will automatically be populated with the attributes of the inventory item. For most items, you will simply need to save the record. For doors, you will need to fill in the thickness column if it is blank. For some doors, particularly the Embossed doors, you will need to change the material. When you save the record, the Alternate Product Code will be update and your inventory history will be preserved. Note that “kitted” products do not need to be update, just the individual components.
For parts (alternate product codes beginning with UCE or QCE, you will need to manually change the alternate product code. Just change the “E” to a “D”. Be aware, however, that some parts products have been discontinued by Ceco – aluminum lite kits, for example.
You will also need to enter your new discounts in the CD manufacturer master record, and then run “Global Change Product Discounts”. After that process is completed, then run “Update Inventory Product Cost”.
